I Saw Heaven

By

Sixteen years ago, I was flying to Colorado, by myself, and encountered an area of thunderstorms and heavy rain. I have flown through lots of weather over the years and have learned how to do it safely. One key tactic is to try to stay "visual" which means to fly at an altitude and/or direction that you can see what you're flying into. On this day, I was pointed in the direction that looked to be the clearest route. Then as the sun set, it revealed one of the most amazing sites I've ever seen. I'm really glad I took these pictures.

You can see on the radar, where my plane was relative to the heavy weather.
